James Blake covers Frank Ocean, Billie Eilish and more on new EP

Words: Dylan Murphy

‘Covers’ sees the GRAMMY-Award winning singer provide his own renditions of huge songs.

Today, James Blake has shared his Covers EP. It sees the multi-instrumentalist cover a collection of his favourite songs.

It includes renditions of Frank Ocean’s ‘Godspeed’, Billie Eilish’s ‘When the party’s over’ among others.

Speaking on the project James said, “Doing these covers and live performances has kept me going this year…”

“I chose to record a few in the studio and it turned into this EP.”

The project is the result of hours spent performing fan-requested covers on live streams on social media during lockdown.

“It’s been a joy to discover new music and new ways of playing songs I’ve already heard,” he says of his inspiration to create this EP.

Covers comes after Blake’s recent Before EP. It launched alongside his first boiler room set since 2013.
