Kate Bush is teaming up with some of the UK’s leading visual artists to raise funds for children affected by war. The project Sound & Vision, invites 52 artists to respond to her iconic lyric, “If I only could, I’d make a deal with God,” from ‘Running Up That Hill’.
One of her most beloved songs, ‘Running Up That Hill’ went viral again in 2022 after featuring in Stranger Things, soaring back up the charts worldwide.
Artists including Maggi Hambling, Peter Doig, Corbin Shaw, and Unskilled Worker have all created original works interpreting the lyric, with all proceeds going to War Child, the charity providing aid and protection for children living in conflict zones across Ukraine, Gaza, Sudan, and Syria.
Speaking about this, Kate Bush said, “Projects like Sound & Vision harness the power of art and music to make a real difference to children living through war.”
All works will be up for sale in an online auction from October 28 to November 13, with bids beginning at £100. The physical exhibition will run at Iconic Images Gallery, Piccadilly, from November 4-8.
