Portlaoise songwriter Kean Kavanagh returns with his first single in nearly a year.
Kean Kavanagh is hitting the road this April. Ahead of his run of Irish shows he’s shared a new song ‘Heart Attack’. It’s the Soft Boy Records’ co-founder’s first since 2021’s ‘Summer Nights‘ and as he leaves Jean Javanagh behind, he introduces a new character to his universe – Bill.
Directed and edited by label mate Kojaque, the video sees Bill find solace in a carton of milk as he struggles to make sense of the world. Produced by Kean Kavanagh & Karma Kid, ‘Heart Attack’ also features keys from Ryan Hargadon.
On the inspiration behind the track, Kean says, “I really got into the song when I figured out it was about this man who is some sort of time traveller or loop victim; still don’t know which. And he’s reliving something from his youth, by choice or otherwise. Called him Bill anyway. I had the song finished three weeks before Bill Murray in Groundhog day came into my head; my subconscious blasting its way out maybe. Big shout to Sam (Karma Kid), we made the music for this the first day we ever met in his studio in London, and Ryan Hargadon on the keys.”
Kean also plays Electric Picnic this summer.
