Kendrick Lamar to talk about ‘To Pimp A Butterfly’ on a Spotify Podcast

Words: Dylan Murphy

The rapper makes an appearance on ‘The Big Hit Show’ which goes live on Spotify on February 16.

Last night, Kendrick Lamar appeared alongside Dr Dre, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, Mary J Blige and Anderson .Paak at the Super Bowl Half Time Show. It marked a rare public appearance for the Compton rapper as rumours of a forthcoming album refuse to die down.

Whilst we wait with bated breath, Spotify have revealed that he will appear on ‘The Big Hit Show’ this week to talk about his seminal album To Pimp A Butterfly. It will provide a rare behind the scenes look into the classic album from Kendrick and feature collaborators, childhood friends and even the school teachers that had an impact on his life.

In a recent press release, host of the show Alex Pappademas spoke on the intention of the show, which examined Twilight in its first season. “Whether we’re tracing how an author’s vivid dream about a sparkly vampire led to an entirely new fan culture or how a megastar reckoning with success, expectation, and survivor’s guilt crafted a masterpiece that became the soundtrack to the biggest protest movement in a generation, listeners will know from chapter to chapter they’re getting a high stakes narrative that explains how our culture has been influenced and shaped by these creations”.

The first episode of the series goes live on Spotify Wednesday 16 February.
