Kildare artist April impresses with new Soundcloud uploads

‘Bedroom pop’ is a phrase that’s been thrown around a little too much lately. It seems any music with lo-fi and DIY elements have the sub-genre stapled to it. But pigeonhole April the same way at your own peril.

While she has been creating within the four walls of her bedroom, she’s been exploring styles and genres in a way that shows a real versatility. Flick through her Soundcloud and there are trap tinges, straight up pop bangers, pared back folk and even boom bap.

“I’ve taken a lot of inspiration from my favourite artists Gus Dapperton and Clairo. I’ve been making music in my room for about a year or so and I guess I’m just still figuring out my sound. I use GarageBand on my computer and phone so I kind of just mess around with different sounds and instruments on there and see what I come up with.”

“My plans right now are to write and make a couple more songs and hopefully release an EP in the next while. I also hope to play some gigs or festivals to get some more recognition.”

Listen to April’s most recent tracks below including the stand out ‘know too well’, but you should check out her entire Soundcloud collection too if you get a chance. Tracks like ‘thegame‘ and ‘think of you‘ are beautiful.
