Laois duo ARM CANDY share new conceptual beat tape

Eamon and Aaron originally started working together running a pirate internet radio station. The ARM CANDY project was only born at the beginning of summer 2017, when the pair would share records they had bought in second hand shops around Laois.
“Aaron has been running underground electronic nights around Portlaoise as part of the Arcade collective while I come from the indie circuit,” explains Eamon. “So hip hop was a natural meeting ground as we both love soul, funk and jazz. We decided to work with Jordan Hearns for the project, as he is another long time friend and collaborator with myself and Aaron, having played in a band with myself for years and running Arcade along with Aaron.”
Jordan is a photographer recently started working with Soft Boy Records producer Gaptoof on a series of tracks. He also did a photo feature called ‘Raving in the Midlands: A glimpse at electronic music culture in Laois‘ for us back in November 2016.
Eamon goes on to tell us that The Sunday Morning beat tape is “a love letter to our childhood spent getting up early to watch cartoons and eat cereal”.
“Our influences draw a lot from Tom & Jerry, Looney Tunes, Cookie Crisp, Golden Nuggets and Ed, Edd n Eddy as well of our love of Adult Swim’s music/video collaborations such as the Captain Murphy album ‘Duality’. With such cinematic influences we decided to make the whole beat tape play as one continuous piece of audio instead of individual songs and give it a conceptual feel.”
