Man loses bet and gets a giant Marty Whelan tattoo on his thigh

When you are blessed with a tattoo of one of Ireland’s national sweethearts on your thigh, I think we know who the real winner of this bet is.
Phil O’Kelly has reached the Irish Twitter Hall of Fame this week with a single tattoo. After losing a bet, Phil got a tattoo of radio personality, Eurovision host, and absolute gentlemen Marty Whelan. On his thigh.
According to Phil, he entered a bet with a friend that the winner of their Fantasy Football League could choose any tattoo they want, wherever they want, for the loser. And people say the stakes of Fantasy Football aren’t as good as the real thing.
They agreed the tattoo had to be at least the size of a two euro coin, but Phil got a lot more than he bargained for when he lost the league. Phil’s friend chose Marty Whelan as the subject for the tattoo. And if you’re going to have Ireland’s radio gentleman on your body forever, you have to give full respect to his “extremely photogenic” face.
That’s how Phil ended up with a 5.5 inch tattoo on his thigh of Marty Whelan, charming smile and all. And Phil might technically be the loser of the bet. But he certainly won a special place in the heart of Irish Twitter.
Irish Twitter blew up over this story. Marty Whelan himself even gave the seal of approval, albeit in a slightly ominous tone.
I just hope the LyricFM stans don’t get any ideas.
