Mount Kimbie team up with slowthai & Danny Brown on ‘in your eyes’

Words: Dylan Murphy

The song lands as part of a drop of two double sided singles.

Mount Kimbie have renewed their relationship with slowthai for their first release since last year’s ‘Black Stone / Blue Liquid’. ‘in your eyes’ also features none other than Detroit rapper Danny Brown and lands alongside ‘a deities encore’ featuring Liv.e, ‘Q’ and ‘Quartz’.

On slowthai’s sophomore album Tyron, Mount Kimbie were credited for production on ‘Feel Away’ which also featured contributions from James Blake.

Q’ and ‘Quartz’ lean into rustic club sounds, while ‘a dieties encore’ showcases the duo’s ability to craft celestial soul.

Speaking on Instagram, Mount Kimbie said, “These are two parts of individual projects that are influenced by two years of working separately in Los Angeles and London. Very excited to share them with you all.”

It comes after years of evolution for the pair which saw Kai Campos go head first into forward-facing electronic music and Dom Maker work with the likes of Skepta, Jay-Z, Flume and more. Now, 13 years after their debut they finds themselves treading new ground and setting the stage for future collaborations.
