New Dublin experimental music festival announced for this March

‘Reception Weekend’ will take place in The Complex in Dublin 7 from March 31-April 1.

Reception, the long-running Dublin-based series of concerts that focuses on cutting edge
experimental music, is planning to celebrate will celebrate six years of running with a ‘mini festival’.

Named ‘Reception Weekend’, the two-day festival will feature a large range of acts and performances “from minimal electronics to ecstatic free improvisation and audio-visual works”.

Since 2017, Reception has promoted new music and sound pieces that do not conform to one specific category.

‘Reception Weekend’ will be their most ambitious and wide-ranging programme to date bringing
together composers and performers from three continents.

Over the course of the weekend, three concerts will take place featuring Irish artists and musicians such as Sharon Phelan, Rob Casey and Cora Venus Lunny, alongside legendary free jazz pianist Pat Thomas, Scottish composer Phil Maguire, Black Truffle recording artist Julia Ready and celebrated Australian cellist
Judith Hamann.

Weekend passes for ‘Reception Weekend’ cost 50 euro, with a limited supply of early-bird tickets now available for 45 euro.
