The group from Belfast are set to showcase their award winning album Living Isn’t Easy in The Grand Social and in The Limelight, this September.

Robocobra Quartet revealed earlier this month that they’d be hitting the road in September this year. The group are set to play The Limelight in Belfast and The Grand Social in Dublin on September 22 and 23 respectively.

The group from Belfast are currently stationed in Austin, Texas, showcasing their new 2022 album Living Isn’t Easy ahead of live dates in Leicester and Manchester. They also won album of the year at the NI Music Prize in November 2022 for the very same record.

Made up of a collective of six members, each with their own distinct tastes in music, Robocobra’s members swap in and out to make a fluid touring quartet. Subsequently, the group pulls from genres ranging from jazz to punk and indie, so it’s easy to imagine how this results in experimental sounds on their own terms.

Speaking on the album, Chris Ryan says, “This is the first album we wrote entirely collaboratively and recorded live. We had spent the past few years playing shows and improvising on stage so it felt right to try to use that energy in the studio. We kept a really limited palette on this record, restricting the amount of people and the instruments used to keep things focused. Loosely written as snapshots of a character negotiating modern life, all of the vocals were recorded in one sitting to let the narration get exhausted and more worn out over time.”
