Ring In the New Year with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra

Words: Rachel Hannon

If global Latin artist Rosalía has shown us anything in the last few weeks, it’s that Orchestras are officially in. With NYE creeping in, what a better way to ring in the new year in Dublin than with the renowned RTÉ Concert Orchestra.

Founded as the Radio Éireann Light Orchestra in 1948, the RTÉ Concert Orchestra evolved from a small studio-based group into a 45-member orchestra gaining popularity after a North American tour in 1978.

With such an extensive collaboration history and impressive alumni, you can see them live this New Year’s Eve. On December 31, join their celebration in the National Concert Hall with Associate Artist conductor/arranger Guy Barker, as they honour a century of song, swing and soul. This follows last year’s sold out ‘Swing and Jive’ concert, and 2023’s ‘Gatsby and Beyond’ night.

The performance begins at 22:00, featuring vocals from Tommy Blaize, Vanessa Haynes and Joe Stilgoe, with Giacomo Smith on clarinet/saxophone. Expect show-stopping party pieces by Louis Armstrong, Benny Goodman, Frank Sinatra, Percy Mayfield, Fats Domino, Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Al Green, Prince, Paloma Faith and more.

So if you’re tired of ringing in the new year in a random living room or pub, why not change it up? Join one of Ireland’s finest orchestral institutions and count down to 2026 in style.

Early booking is highly advised.

Tickets are €15-€42.50 with no service charges or booking fees. Available right now here.
