Following a busy festival season, the Glastonbury duo swap their dark soundscapes for a summer anthem.
We’ve become accustomed to expecting the unexpected with Sad Night Dynamite. The duo have worked with acts ranging from Maryland rapper IDK to South African shapeshifter Moonchild Sanelly and in the process made music that pulls acts from whatever genre takes their fancy into their own orbit. On the surface their latest effort ‘What Does That Make Me?’, lands like a left turn but on closer inspection the summery cut keeps those same anxious tendencies that power their psychedelic universe.
Speaking on the track, they describe it as “a brief lapse in the nightmare that is SND.” At its heart, ‘What Does That Make Me?’ is in fact an existential anthem about those moments when “you’re pranging out, wondering what people would think of you if they saw the way you were behaving. Would you act the same way if someone was watching you? Would they think differently of you? Therefore, should you look at yourself differently? Who’s the real you? The version people see, or the person you are behind closed doors?”
Fresh off a huge festival run, Josh and Archie had their homecoming gig at Glastonbury festival after a busy couple of years touring with Glass Animals and touching down across Europe. Ahead of another run of shows in Europe and North America get familiar with their latest release.
