Soda Blonde share new single ‘In the Heat of the Night’

Words: Dylan Murphy

The Dublin four piece are back with their second single ahead of their hotly anticipated debut album.

Soda Blonde are ramping up the heat on their album rollout with an unconcerned single in the shape of ‘In The Heat of The Night’. Indulging in the kind of war of words that comes about in the early hours, the group’s smokey new effort sees the Dublin group reminisce over boiling conversations.

Speaking on the new song, Faye O’Rourke says, “The music possessed an attitude that I wasn’t familiar with as a songwriter. It deftly evoked the neon of night and brought Scorcese’s Casino to my mind. Our goal was to create a song that had everything we wanted to hear. It allowed me to write, uninhibited by the labour of self-analysis. It’s a song about conflict and getting a kick out of it. The thrill of the fight.”

It comes after Soda Blonde shared the title track of their forthcoming album Small Talk and announced their nationwide tour. Landing via Velveteen Records on July 9 2021, Small Talk is entirely self-produced and sees the group reflecting on their twenty-something experiences with refreshingly honest transparency.
