Spotify launches option within app to donate to artists
Artist Fundraising Pick is the newest feature rolled out during the pandemic.
Spotify has launched a new feature named Artist Fundraising Pick, it allows fans to donate money directly through the app to the artist. The funds can go directly towards artists themselves, their crew or a charity directly through the app.
The streaming service has teamed up with Cash App, the mobile payment service to create a $1 million relief fund for said feature.
The new feature has however, come under fire from fans and artists alike who have argued that the company should raise its low payments to artists for their hard earned streams.
In a statement on their website Spotify said, “With this feature, we simply hope to enable those who have the interest and means to support artists in this time of great need.”
A new feature that enables you to raise support directly from your fans on Spotify—for yourself, your team, or an artist relief organization.
