At the weekend we revealed that Stormzy announced he is coming to Dublin to play the Olympia, Wednesday March 29. It’s no surprise that a lot of people including all of us in the office were so excited.
I might sound like a broken record now, because I’m about to complain about this whole ‘tickets selling out in minutes’, like I did with Run the Jewels too.
However, here we are again, I go onto Ticketmaster at 9am, it’s loading for a while, then at literally 5 minutes past the hour it says no tickets available. For me they were gone in 5 minutes, some people are reporting 1 minute or even seconds after 9 when they tried.
So tickets are gone for the original price, but it’s then suggested to you to buy a ticket on Seatwave instead… A Ticketmaster re-sale website for five times the price.
Original tickets for this show were about €26.50, Seatwave are selling for €125.00… And this was at 6 minutes past 9am.
All we can say on the matter is it’s scandalous, and I wish I was referring to that banger of a song by Mis-Teeq, but unfortunately I’m not and thats the only word I think fits here.
Update: Stormzy has now tweeted about the issue:
Fuck all these secondary ticket websites, please don’t buy tickets for more than face value. Sorry there isn’t more I can do, they’re cunts
