There’s no one that turns Irish holiness into unholiness quite like In RÓIS.
In her new music video with HHH for ‘Did ye ever get The Ride at The Wake House’, the pair do exactly that, transforming the Irish wake into a fever dream. This is a tongue and cheek ode to Ireland’s boldest export: the unfiltered sense of humour in situations that aren’t objectively funny.

“The tune pokes fun at the outrageous notion of riding at a place where it would be most forbidden, as, as everyone knows, there is nothing tastier than forbidden fruit.
Unbeknownst to a lot of Irish people, the wake house would have been a debaucherous affair full of games, craic, and matchmaking … one has to suppose all sorts of devilment at this glorious celebration. We hope this song allows you to dare to do the same.” – RÓIS
Musically, this is a delirious rework of the chaotic radio anthems that haunted the airwaves of the late 90s and early 00s. The track takes the spirit of Richie Kavanagh’s ‘Did Ye Ever Get the Ride on a Tractor‘ and hurls it through a postmodern lens. As HHH puts it, “we became accustomed to these
silly tunes, and over time, through rose-tinted glasses, did we begin to appreciate their silliness in a world which seems to have gone completely insane.”
Visually, the video unfolds in three parts. The first introduces the wake goers dressed in black, wandering the Kerry countryside. The second and main section shows dancer Alex Vostokova, whose chaotic, humorous, sexy dance appears to take over her body and enrol her on a journey through the rural Irish landscapes towards the wake house itself. The third and final part shows Alex reaching the wake house, being tempted behind the house for ‘the ride’ by RÓIS, played by performer Siobhan O’Connor in the video.
Director Adam O’Reilly said, “The movement takes over Alex’s body like possession.” The result is unapologetic, unexpected, and bold. With mentorship from Brendan Canty and Bob Gallagher, this video is a selection for YMVC 2025 and First Cut Youth Film Festival. It’s a love letter to Irish weirdness, and a reminder that our folklore always carries a bit of spice.
