Watch Salamay’s video for ‘Rochelle (I Know You Don’t Like Rappers)

Words: Dylan Murphy

The Nigerian-Irish rapper and poet is advocating for patience in the new video.

Cork-based artist Salamay made a name for himself in 2021 with his thought-provoking project E. P (Enemy of Progress). Sharing the same tender and poetic qualities as the likes of Loyle Carner, Frankie Stew and Harvey Gunn, Salamay stripped it back even further with lullaby-esque production and drip fed storytelling on his debut body of work.

Since the release of his project, Salamay performed at his launch party and more recently hit the stage at Body & Soul in Ballinlough Castle. Now, he’s returned with a new video for ‘Rochelle (I Know You Don’t Like Rappers).

Speaking on Instagram ahead of its release, Salamay said, “took some time off tryna get some things in order. Life’s been lifing as of late but i’m grateful for the steps we’ve taken so far. real real proud of what the team accomplished in bringing this visual to life…”
