We’re Working with Beamish to Support Our Favourite Bands with Their “Beamish Breakthrough”

District and Beamish have been working on something truly special.I n order to break down the barrier to success and champion our favourite musicians in the country, Beamish have set up a bursary called the Beamish Breakthrough and have just chosen two bands who exemplify the excellence of the Irish music world right now.

There are so many facets to being a musician. The Beamish Breakthrough sets out to make things easier for two selected bands through providing tangible assistance to take their craft to the next level. Whether it’s financially, with consultancy or with help at gigs or events, Beamish is looking for those cult heroes to shower with some love.

The Irish music world has come along leaps and bounds in the past few years. However, we know that one of the hardest obstacles to overcome is financial viability. Purchasing equipment, paying for studio time, mixing and mastering and funding the daily life of a musician can get expensive when you’re a band trying to make it.

With Beamish’s Breakthrough, two bands we’ve selected will be given access to studio time, professional media assets and financial assistance to keep their momentum going. The funding will be a combination of cash and services to propel their career. This includes press shots, PR, branding and studio hire and financial investment to actualise their vision for the future of their band.

We’ve been truly enamoured by the bands coming out of Ireland. Diversity and quality of sound is at the centre of a scene which doesn’t seem to slow down. What happens at the grassroots is now reflecting on a worldwide stage. Fontaines D.C. are one of the biggest bands in the world, CMAT just performed on Jimmy Kimmel and Irish music in general has never been more at the centre of the global zeitgeist.

We will be announcing the first of two bands who are receiving the Beamish Breakthrough this Friday, kicking off an exciting journey. At District, the very core of our work is to shine a light on those making a creative difference in Ireland and pushing the scene forward. These bands provide a cultural backbone which keeps us rediscovering our love for Ireland’s creative world. Keep your ear to the ground, big things coming soon.

Please enjoy Beamish responsibly. Visit www.drinkaware.ie for more information.
