As the evening closes in quicker and we’re all forced from the canals and beaches to pubs and venues, you can’t let some of the best artists on Irish soil pass you by. Jack Daniels and District share an authentic love for music culture and we thought who better to team up with to celebrate the best new gigs. Every month, we’re handpicking the must-see shows in the capital, ranging from underground rappers in dimly lit rooms to rising stars on sold-out tours.

No better way to welcome in those darker nights than some heart-wrenching King Krule. What more is there to say? Sure to be an unmissable show, it’s not a gig, it’s a therapy session. After three years, the London-based artist released his fourth studio album Space Heavy, with tracks being more upbeat thematically. So who knows, maybe this show will be different and we’re all going to come out of the Olympia with smiles on our faces.

Griselda alumni arrive in Dublin for the second time this year. First Conway and now Rome Streetz. If you’re a hip-hop purist, this will itch that need for some bars. After Westside Gunn broke our hearts earlier this year with his show cancellation and no refunds, it’s time for Rome to absolve the label’s sins against the Irish people.

One of the best Ireland has right now. Going from strength to strength with each drop and an infectious stage presence, there’s no better gig this month to support your local. Coming off multiple festival performances this summer in Ireland and abroad, it’s been a pleasure to see Aby grow and evolve as a musician and establish an energy at her live shows that rivals any other Irish artist.

If you were lucky enough to witness Overmono at All Together Now over the summer, you’ll know they were one of the highlights of the festival. Seamlessly flowing electronic tracks, drawing on their British roots. The Welsh duo finally seem to be on the receiving end of the praise they deserve. If you don’t know, then get to know.

Another one for the rap absolutists. Some of the best beat selection out there right now. We’ll be sure to hear his collaborations with the likes of The Alchemist and Knucks. Bringing an element of positivity and braggadociousness to a sound so heavily associated with dark themes.

No introduction needed. Mike Skinner is a legend of the game. A pioneer in British electronic and hip hop sounds, as well as music culture in general. Don’t mug yourself by missing this one. Retired in 2011 and then resurrected in recent years, missing the second coming of Mike Skinner is something that can keep a person up at night.

Start your month with King Krule, end it with Squid. A Cathartic sound that ranges dramatically from track to track, there will definitely not be a lack of energy at this one. The post-punk band are representative of a thriving British and Irish scene right now, alongside the likes of Black Country, New Road, Black Midi and Gilla Band.
