A Biography on MF DOOM is coming in 2024

Words: Dylan Murphy

News of The Chronicles of Doom comes after the passing of the late and great MC.

According to Kirkusreviews, Astra House has acquired the worldwide rights to a new book named The Chronicles of Doom (We sincerely hope that the final version uses ALL CAPs when it says the man’s name). Due to be written by journalist S.H. Fernando Jr., it will attempt to piece together the rare and fleeting information available of the legendary masked rapper.

The artist now known as MF DOOM made his start in music as part of rap group KMD with his brother who sadly passed in 1993. He’d later remerge from the shadows as MF DOOM and released cult favourites such as Operation: Doomsday, Take Me To Your Leader and his collaborative album with Madlib – Madvillainy.

DOOM’s death was announced by his family on new year’s eve in 2020.

Author S.H. Fernando Jr. has previously written books such as The New Beats: Exploring the Music Culture and Attitudes of Hip-Hop and From the Streets of Shaolin: The Wu-Tang Saga.

Senior editor of Astra House, Danny Vazquez says, “Dumile’s story has been recounted endlessly on the internet,” Vazquez said. “Amateur music historians have tried, and failed, time and time again, to tell his complete story. S.H. Fernando is here to tell that story—from KMD, to Adult Swim, to the villain’s final chapter escaping death in the public eye for two whole months before it was announced in the most sensational fashion on New Year’s Eve 2020.”

The news comes after the release of the series ‘Did I Ever Tell You The One About… MF DOOM’, a podcast that was okay’d by the late rapper’s family and featured interviews from collaborators and close friends.
