Could live music return by late spring?

Vaccine expert Sir John Bell sounded confident when asked about a potential return to normality in spring.

When asked if life could begin to return to normal by spring UK vaccine expert Sir John Bell sounded confident.

Following the news that Pfizer had developed a 90% effective COVID-19 vaccine, he has suggested that life could begin to return to normal by spring 2021.

Sir John Bell spoke to BBC journalist Sarah Montague on the World at One yesterday (Monday 9 November). She asked following the news of a vaccine, “Do we now say with confidence that life should be returning to normal by spring?”

To which he replied, “Yes. Yes. Yes. I’m probably the first guy to say that but I will say that with some confidence.”

It comes as suggestions that vaccinations could be rolled out to the most vulnerable in December. Currently, Ireland is in level 5 restrictions and bars, clubs, restaurants and non-essential shops are all closed. Exemptions include takeaway services.

Clubs and concerts are likely to be the last things that return to normality, but given a vaccine is on the way and experts are confident of an imminent return to normality could shows return sooner than we think?

News that Glastonbury was preparing to go ahead with festivities in 2021 was met with scepticism. However, given the recent news it would seem that a festival season return is not out of the realms of reality.
