Dublin’s essential events this weekend 15//16//17

All night parties, GOTA’s biggest headline show yet and a solid world music party.

Every Thursday at District we’ll be curating a selection of unmissable events in Dublin ahead of the coming weekend. Whether you have an appetite for thumping techno or are craving some hip hop classics we have you covered.

This weekend’s events are dominated by banging electronic but that’s not to say there isn’t other offerings. Woweembeem’s latest live party has a hefty line-up of talent showcasing all sort of diverse sounds and GOTA are about to rock their biggest show yet. Read about it below.

Index: Overmono [Truss & Tessela] – DJ Set – Index 39/40 – 23.00 – 03.00

Under their respective artist names Truss and Tessela, brothers Tom and Ed Russell have forged formidable individual reputations as producers. Defining tracks such as Truss’ ‘Kymin Lea’ and ‘Beacon’ and Tessela’s ‘Rough 2’ and ‘Hackney Parrot’ for the likes of R&S, Perc Trax, and their own Poly Kicks label, have encapsulated so much of what is exciting and vital in UK underground, electronic music.

Their new collaborative project Overmono, now sees Tom and Ed come together on record for the very first time. You can see them at Index this Friday.

Apartment Records label boss and one of the brilliant minds behind Open Ear festival. You can expect nothing short of the highest energy and deepest digging from one of Ireland’s finest selectors.

Couch have returned, teaming up with Devoid to bring you Stratton’s Irish debut.

His recently released EP “Hardcore Lives Forever” is a seriously good time throwback to the hardcore days of the nineties with crunching bass lines and melodic tones. Expect everything from Hardcore, Speed garage, Jackin’ House and everything in-between from his high energy sets

Dublin 4 piece GOTA are playing Button Factory this Friday. After the release of their stellar sophomore album ‘Suspended’ the group will play their biggest headline show yet. They recently shared visuals for ‘Rubicon‘ to give you a taste of what’s to come at the gig.

Research label owner and longtime Dublin promoter and DJ, Aeron will be joining Sam Greenwood for another healthy edition of Techno & Cans.

Between the pair they’ve booked and supported the largest techno acts on the circuit, working with the likes of Dax J, I Hate Models, Rodhad, KiNK, Blawan, Slam and many more over the years.

Expect a high energy night with the best selections from Techno, acid techno, ghetto house, gabber and plenty more.

Svbversion w/ OMEN. present Takaaki Itoh in Kaizen Bar. The Japanese techno master will be rocking an extended set and Jon Hussey will be on support duties. With regular fixtures at Berlin techno institutions such as Berghain and Tresor, Takaaki’s hypnotic style has become a worldwide staple among DJs and patrons of the fast dark alike.
