Irish Gig of the Week: Swans

Jack Daniel’s and District share an authentic love for music culture and we thought who better to team up with to celebrate the best new gigs. Every week, we’re handpicking the must-attend show in the capital, ranging from underground rappers in dimly lit rooms to rising stars on sold-out tours.

Swans are one of the most influential experimental rock bands ever.

Their live shows are known for being some of the most intense in the world. In the past, Swans have staged shows that last multiple hours as well as being the loudest live show you can probably ever go to.

For over 40 years Swans have garnered huge acclaim for their projects such as To Be Kind and Soundtracks for the blind

Their sound puts the human experience first. Their live shows are a multisensory journey which isn’t always described as pleasant. Shows have been known to last hours combining their music with a certain level of performance art.

Swans live show reputation supercedes even their music. Both unique in their artistry, it’s a bucket list gig for many people.

Swans are playing in The Academy on Monday 21 August. Doors open at 19:00, you can grab tickets here
