The Chamomile Records co-founder drops an emotive, breaks-inspired cut ahead of the project which lands in December.
Dublin artist Monjola has routinely levelled up with every release. Having been named in our inaugural Future of Irish Music feature in 2021, the rapper, singer and party thrower has dropped a steady stream of singles that meander between various sounds and style. Today, he’s shared ‘WOOWOO’, a meditative single that shares DNA with the confessional musings on his 2021 single ‘Pain Don’t Die’.
Featuring production from Alexander Wildwood, ‘WOOWOO’ melds a combination of breaks, emotive strings and a genuinely anthemic hook as part of his most complete release to date.
Speaking about his new single, Monjola says, “‘WOOWOO‘ is the embodiment of raw emotion and vulnerability, capturing the oscillations between my highs and lows, while reflecting on these moments. I made it with Alex on one of the days where it was really hot outside and we didn’t really feel like making music or feel inspired. The chorus is exactly how I was feeling that day. The chorus, though relentlessly repetitive, encapsulates the true essence of my sentiments in that very moment. It’s an anthem for anyone with unspoken depths of feeling.”
The track comes after Monjola released ‘AM I TOO MUCH’ earlier this year. He’s currently on tour supporting Kojaque across Ireland and Europe right now ahead of the release of his debut EP While You Wait.
