Mount Palomar Shares Frenetic New Single ‘Embers’

The Belfast producer has teamed up with Maruja vocalist Harry Wilkinson for a relentless new cut.
Between curating Banksy exhibitions, writing songs for pop stars, performing in Berghain and releasing his own music, Mount Palomar might just be one of the island’s most versatile creators. Having teamed up with the likes of Enola Gay in the past, the electronic producer from Belfast is back in a collaborative pocket again as he releases ‘Embers’ which features Maruja frontman Harry Wilkinson.
The single is a tension headache you can dance to, that rarely lets up across the course of four minutes. Featuring breaks, rap-meets-spoken word delivery from Harry and dark instrumentation, the claustrophobic effort further showcases the producer’s eclectic ear and ability to pull other acts into his universe.
Speaking on the track Neil Kerr AKA Mount Palomar says, “”Embers‘ came about as a reaction to a difficult year that left me feeling exhausted and a bit lost. At points writing the track felt uncomfortable, I didn’t want to hear, let alone work on, anything melancholic and frenetic but I felt that I needed to try to channel the frustrations of the year into a new work, in order to leave some of that anxiety behind. I knew I wanted a vocal feature for the track and was keen to work with someone who had integrity and an honest approach to their writing. Embers was borne out of a need to leave shit behind, moving forward with less baggage and more optimism.”
It comes after a busy 12 months for Mount Palomar, who played Other Voices in Cardigan, Wales last month and has regularly curated nights of art and electronic music in the north’s capital.
