Olympia Theatre to host indoor hip hop and drill festival

Words: Dylan Murphy

‘Don’t Play Yourself’ features a host of Irish artists including Hare Squead, A92, Jordan Adetunji, Alicia Raye and more.

As we edge towards some semblance of normality and gig announcements come thick and fast, one of the most exciting shows in a minute has been announced.

You’d have to be living under a rock to be unaware of the rise of hip hop and drill in Ireland. Longitude has given a platform to a number of homegrown artists in recent years, but now an indoor festival dedicated to showcasing drill and hip hop acts from Ireland is taking place in the capital.

‘Don’t Play Yourself’ features A92, Hare Squead, Jordan Adetunji, Evans Junior, Sello, Smilez, larry Alabi, Reggie, AC-130, Ayo August, Alicia Raye and Adaeze. WYHA Pod will be hosting proceedings on the night with DJ DaCosta and DJ Geo on the decks.

‘Don’t Play Yourself’ takes place Friday 10 December at the Olympia Theatre.

Tickets go on sale next Wednesday at 9.00.
