Shy Mascot share new video for ‘4 Lights’

The band’s sound is a smorgasbord of funk, jazz and hip hop, tied together by the raps of Dublin-based, South Florida rapper Jamel.

Last October we were first introduced to Shy Mascot video their video for ‘Pardon Me‘, followed by the track ‘All Day Long‘ in December. It’s clear the group are being quite selective when it comes to releasing music, not taking to Soundcloud with every rough draft they come up with. Now they’re back with another one to add to their slowly growing discography.

“Our bassist Keith Tobin was inspired to write the music during a long night cycle, while he was getting lost in his thoughts, watching the passing street lights,” says Jamel. “When I heard it, it got me to reflecting on the weight work and responsibilities can put on you and how that pressure can manifest in different vices.”

Jamel sent the track to regular collaborator Gareth Stack, who previously worked on the video for ‘Pardon Me’ and he came up with the concept for the visuals, inspired by films like The Wackness and Garden State.

Check it out below and catch Shy Mascot at District Magazine’s Someplace Else Stage at Bulmers Forbidden Fruit, June 1-3. Click here for more.
