The Irish producer is melding the anonymity of underground icons with forward-facing explorations of modern electronic music in his new double-sided release.
Sloucho is embracing the innovative movements being made in dance music without totally abandoning its roots. The Irish producer landed on the scene with the anthemic ‘Hold It Down‘ last year and it’s been full steam ahead ever since. Using his moniker as a free space to explore the concept of duality, he shares DNA with the cryptic presence of fellow countryman (country pig?) pigbaby whilst he makes emotional cuts that satisfy burgeoning electronic fans on TikTok without alienating even the pickiest and weather-beaten music heads.
In the latest double release, Sloucho shares two cuts that can fuel peak club hours as easily as they could soundtrack introspective thought. This intimate feel is showcased in the live performance video which sees the anonymous artist perform the tracks from costume designer Ríon Hannora’s studio. Presenting himself as a creature that’s equally devilish and angelic, Sloucho is quickly becoming an act that’s unlikely to be boxed in anytime soon.
Speaking on the new release, Sloucho says, “Creating new identities allows for new stories and tales to emerge and intertwine, and those stories will eventually create an interconnected world where I can hopefully retire to some day… Escapism sometimes comes with negative connotations but real life is boring, I want to create my imagination and then live in it.”
