Thumbstopper: Lauren Auder and Clams Casino share moody anthem ‘Heathen’

Words: Dylan Murphy

Stop scrolling – Thumbstopper is the must listen to song of the day. Today we have a new collaboration from Lauren Auder and Clams Casino.

The ecosystem of Lauren Auder’s musical world is made up of an unpredictable myriad of diverse sounds. Whether it’s emotionally-charged pop hooks, compelling post-rock inspired strings or dusty hip hop percussion, you can count on Lauren to find the sweet spot between disparate styles.

This week, the artist hailing from Albi in France has tapped up Clams Casino for a mesmeric new cut in ‘Heathen‘. Awash with immersive and grandiose production it’s a deliberate departure from the pop-tinged style of recent releases.

Lauren has previously toured with Christine and the Queens, Amen Dunes and has developed a strong presence in the world of fashion working with Gucci and featuring as the face of Hedi Slimane’s debut collection for Celine.

Speaking on her forthcoming EP she said, “For a while, there was a part of me that really wanted to prove to myself that I could make a record that was very orchestral and flowery—it was a challenge that I needed to face”.

“This EP is almost a return to the way I first started making music, and I allowed myself to work with more traditional pop structures and more electronic influences.”
