Uppbeat drops new video from his debut EP ‘Enter Aquarius’

Uppbeat releases new visuals ahead of headline show.

Back in January we featured Uppbeat’s debut project, writing that with ‘Enter Aquarius’ he proved that he’s now an artist with real promise, tackling artistic issues like authenticity and flow head on, with a new-found swagger and confidence that didn’t feel contrived.

“I feel that Ireland is more than just one specific sound or story,” the West of Ireland MC said at the time. “My goal with this EP was to create music that a whole country would feel connected too not just people from certain areas. I wanted this EP to feel like mainstream and underground music fused into one. The goal was to create music that people in Mayo or Donegal can relate to as much as people in the major cities.”

He’s now returned with some new visuals for the track ‘Purple Lights’, one of the most popular on the project having alone racked up 70,000 streams. It’s shot by Nathan Sheridan and directed by Finn Costelloe aka Uppbeat, with the track taking listeners on a  “journey through the mind of the artist dealing with a difficult relationship questioning his partner, but also himself”.

Uppbeat plays a headline show tonight, Thursday August 1, in Whelan’s.
