Young Fathers announce fourth album and Dublin headliner next year

Words: Ellen Kenny

Young Fathers have announced the release dates of their fourth album and an upcoming headline in the 3Olympia Theatre.

After returning with their track ‘Geronimo’ earlier this year, Young Fathers have announced that their fourth album Heavy Heavy will be released February 3. Their first album since 2018’s Cocoa Sugar, Heavy Heavy is a 10-track project that brings Young Fathers back to their basic, basement studio style.

Young Fathers have also released their second single on the album, ‘I Saw‘ , full of all the controlled chaos and unbridled soul people have come to love about the band.

Alongside their upcoming album and new single, the band have announced their European tour for 2023. The band will play in the 3Olympia Theatre on March 1, 2023. Other concerts include Berlin on February 18 and Paris on February 24. Pre-sale tickets go on sale Tuesday October 25 at 10:00.

Formed in Scotland in 2008 by Alloysious Massaquoi, Kayus Bankole and Graham ‘G’ Hastings, Young Fathers is now a staple of the lo-fi and soul scene. Their debut album Dead was awarded the Mercury Prize in 2014, and the band have collaborated with artists such as Janelle Monae, Sam Fender and IDLES.
