To help you navigate the next two weeks, District has compiled this handy events directory of all the essential bits happening in the capital. Hen’s Teeth Big Christmas Quiz – Hen’s Teeth

Round up the gang on for Hen’s Teeth’s last table quiz of the year on Tuesday 20 December. Tickets for tables of two, four or six are available with tickets starting at 22.20 for two people. Click here for more information.

Home Alone – The Light House Cinema

Part of their Naughty or Nice festive cinema season, the Light House will be showing Christmas classics such as Home Alone all throughout the holidays. It simply isn’t Christmas without cheering on Kevin McCallister’s hijinks in a Home Alone double bill. Tickets are 11 euro/9 euro. Click here to check out their full timetable.

Greg Tisdall Christmas Extravaganza – Bello Bar

Back for a fourth edition, Greg Tisdall’s Christmas Extravaganza features a stellar line-up including Filmore!, Chameleon and Rudy. Doors for the Bello Bar takeover open at 20:00. Tickets are 13 euro, click here to grab some.

Die Hard – The Light House Cinema

Part of their Naughty or Nice cinema season, Christmas movie classic Die Hard will be shown in the Light House over the holidays. One of the biggest films of the eighties, Die Hard was not only a box office smash, but it made a star of its leading man, Bruce Willis, and quickly became considered one of the greatest action movies of all time.

Hang Tough: Winter Print Show – Hang Tough Contemporary

This year is the second instalment of the Hang Tough Editions ‘Winter Print Show’ featuring exclusive limited edition prints from over 50 artists, both Irish and international, who were selected from their 2022 Open Call Competition hosted on Instagram. This year’s selection of prints offers an eclectic range of themes from artists practising in paint, photography, illustration and 3D works which considers all artistic tastes. Hen’s Teeth Festive Lunch and Dinner – Hen’s Teeth

The festive menu at Hen’s Teeth is mouth-water-inducing. Available until Saturday 24 December, stop by for a delicious sandwich before picking up some last-minute stocking fillers in their Blackpitts store.

Ethereal Skies presents: TAAHLIAH and Soria – The Racket Space

After their first event hosting Dark0 and Capricorn, TAAHLIAH will be joining Ethereal Skies in the Racket Space on Thursday, 22 December along with support from Dublin’s Soria and Sean Murray. TAAHLIAH made her name as a DJ in the queer scenes of Glasgow and Berlin and since then become a formidable producer traversing the scenes and sounds of techno, hard dance and experimental pop.

Index: Sama’ Abdulhadi – Here and Now

Over the last few years there have been few names as prominent where the Middle East and techno meet as Sama Abdulhadi. Her Dublin debut is lining up to be one of the more exciting and intriguing shows Index has ever done. A Palestinian native now living in France – her rise to prominence was propelled by an electric Boiler Room set in Palestine that got really people talking.

A Very Workmans Christmas – Workman’s Club and Cellar

Ah Workman’s. A hub for Dublin’s creative scene and music culture, wrapped in a lot of fun, messy and nostalgic memories. What better place to celebrate the festive season, our achievements from this year and our hopes for the next?

Featuring a stellar selection of Ireland’s creative community, District is taking over Workman’s on the 23rd of December for an evening of music, live performances and great sets. Doors open at 21:00.

Strawberries Queer Party #10 – The Sound House

Strawberries’ last party before Santa Comes will take place on December 23 in the Sound House. After a full house for Berlin’s THC in October, Síofra will be playing b2b with our resident Soria to close the party. Resident DJ Bull Horris will heat things up for them before that. Doors open at 23:00, with the last entry at 00:30.

Niamh Barry: Now & Forever, Interpersonally Queer – All My Friends

Having launched on December 9 in All My Friends pub on Meath Street, Niamh Barry’s new exhibition is free to the public and will be displayed over the Christmas season and New Year. Head into All My Friends for a pint and some culture this festive season.

Howth Castle Christmas Market

This unique Bavarian-style Christmas market will be held until January 9 in the grounds of Howth Castle. Salvaged: Stardoll Wigwam

Salvaged presents: ‘Stardoll: a night with the gals, gays and theys’. Taking place in Wigwam with a stellar lineup, this club night is inspired by ‘Stardoll’, the iconic 2000’s online game where players choose how to dress their characters in any way they desire.

Much like the game, this will be a night where people can express themselves in true Stardoll fashion, have fun with their style and are encouraged to experiment with their wardrobe. Tickets start at 5 euro via Eventbrite.

Nothing Compares – The Light House Cinema

Directed by Kathryn Ferguson, Nothing Compares charts Sinéad OʼConnorʼs phenomenal rise to worldwide fame and examines how she used her voice at the height of her stardom before her iconoclastic personality led to her exile from the pop mainstream. Focusing on O’Connor’s prophetic words and deeds from 1987 to 1993, the film presents an authoritative, richly cinematic portrait of this fearless artist through a contemporary feminist lens.

Welcome Home – Guinness Storehouse

The Guinness Storehouse has launched its Welcome Home Christmas experience featuring multimedia immersive installations created by Dublin-born award-winning artist, GRIF.

Behind the famous black gates, visitors can expect a state-of-the-art projection-mapped Christmas tree installation in the Guinness Storehouse atrium measuring 16 metres tall, a cinematic film inspired by the iconic surge of a Guinness pint, and bespoke large-scale prints. Click here for more.

Black Boys Blush Two – The Racket Space

A three-phase event in collaboration with Alice Rekab’s Family Lines in support of MASI. Consisting of sound performances, visual installations and a panel talk of some of the most gifted POC artists in Ireland, Black Boys Blush Two is coming to the Racket Space on Thursday 29 December.

Christmas Cracker Week – Hang Dai

AE86 presents: Gracie T – Wigwam

Hope Works resident and Threads London regular, Gracie T will join AE86 for a huge night in Wigwam’s basement. Playing everything from Jungle to Dancehall, this night is going to be special. TENDER – Tara Building

TENDER is born out of the unique and lasting connections that can flourish on a dance floor, and they’re back for one last dance in 2022.
