Ireland’s Film Festival Championing Female and Non-Binary Directors Is Returning To Dublin

GALPAL Collective’s ‘Directed By Her’ film festival is set to return from 26 March- 3 April, showcasing works from Female, Lesbian, Intersex, Non-Binary, Trans, and Agender. Following on from last year’s success, the programme compiles film, music videos, panel discussions and workshops to showcase the FLINTA figures contributing to the boom in Irish cinema. Directed By Her’s Short Form Programme

‘Directed By Her’ kicks off with multiple back-to-back short form screening from Irish female and non-binary directors. This includes music videos such as SPRINTS’ “Feast”, directed by Niamh Bryson, “Cherry Pie” by shiv and Kojaque, directed by Tobi Bello and more of the most notable music visuals to come out of Ireland recently. This is combined with stunning short films, spanning a range of genre’s and concepts.

Workshop for Emerging Filmmakers

Being a skilled filmmaker is only one part of the neverending puzzle to making it in the film industry. Directed by Her’s programme includes a workshop hosted at Rua Red. Learn how to navigate self-branding, financial literacy and connect creatively with like-minded film-lovers.

3 April

The Love Witch Screening

The festival concludes with a screening on the 2016 cult film “The Love Witch”, coinciding with the IFI’s new programme ‘The Bigger Picture’, highlighting women in film. A film centred around navigating relationships, womanhood and gender, directed by Anna Biller.
