These Black Irish Women Are Shaping The Landscape of Contemporary Music

To mark International Women’s Day this March 8, Dublin-based stylist and visual storyteller Mosh has created a powerful editorial project spotlighting 7 black women shaping the landscape of contemporary Irish music.

Mosh works at the intersection of fashion, film and music culture, which is exactly why she wants to showcase these incredible women who are redefining sound, and the creative community. Her debut fashion film Endless was an official selection at the 2025 Sarajevo Fashion Film Festival, and she has previously collaborated on projects with YouMagazine, Ireland Fashion Week, and Dublin Independent Fashion Week.

Over the next while, during International Women’s Month, we at District Music will be giving space to these 7 women individually through photo shoots and interviews that Mosh curated. The women include 3 artists: Diamond Nzekwe, Nice Celine, Simone Adinga-Okonyia and 4 DJs, Juliet Franklin, Laura Twagirayezu/Big Cheeks, Mona Lxsa Taurus and Sharon.

These videos will reflect their personal journeys and the realities of navigating the music industry as a Black woman. This is all about visibility and growth. We can’t wait to see what’s next for them.
