5 Unmissable Acts To Catch At Sounds From A Safe Harbour

Beamish is supporting their own by sponsoring Cork’s Sounds From A Safe Harbour, a breeding ground for beautiful moments. Dart across the city and fill your boots with one-off performances from the worlds of ambient, folk, rock, hip-hop and more. With the festival commencing on 11 September, here are some picks from us for you to tap into.

01

Crash Ensemble x Rachael Lavelle x Róis

We cannot think of a more perfect combination than these three. Send yourself into a dreamlike state with the haunting aura of RÓIS and the elegance of Rachael Lavelle. Awaking the energy of ancestral sound and combining it with a sonic display unlike anything we’ve heard, RÓIS saw herself garner a Choice Prize nomination. Rachael Lavelle’s ‘Big Dreams’ was one of our favourite albums of 2023, and with a backing of Crash Ensemble, this is guaranteed to be a highlight of the festival.

02

Jon Hopkins Breathwork

A truly unique experience. Ambient master Jon Hopkins is hosting a one-hour meditation and breathwork session inside the Cork Opera House in the heart of Cork City. Decompress and escape with synths to heal the soul.

03

Junior Brother’s Album Launch

Nobody makes our hairs stand up on the back of our necks like Junior Brother. Guttural beauty that pulls on folk and traditional threads to give a contemporary rendition of old Ireland. His newest album ‘The End’ released on 5 September and here is a chance to hear it live for the first time.

04

Gordi + SOAK

We are loving the collaborative nature of Sounds From A Safe Harbour this year. Where else are you going to get two icons come together like Gordi and SOAK. Earlier this year, we hosted a SOAK performance, which blew us away, which can only be added to by Gordi.

05

Bobby Fingers

Bobby Fingers is one of the most peculiarly endearing artists we have in Ireland and his musical experience will surely be no different. Former Rubberbandits notoriety, Bobby has gone out on his own, sometimes collaborating with our beloved King Kong Company.
